Profile
Charles Palmer Vineyards is a family-run wine estate in Winchelsea, East Sussex, led by father-and-son winemakers Charles and Robert Palmer. The vineyards benefit from a south-facing slope, coastal influence, and Kimmeridgian clay soils similar to those found in Burgundy’s Grand Crus. Established in 2006, the estate focuses on producing small-batch, high-quality vintage wines, each expressing its own distinctive character.
The cellar door is open Wednesday to Saturday (11am–5pm) and Sundays (12pm–4pm). Wine tastings are available by pre-booking, while visitors are welcome to enjoy wines by the glass or bottle without a reservation. During the drier months, guests can explore a scenic vineyard trail and enjoy tailored dining experiences with local chefs. Overnight stays are available year-round at the beautiful Wickham Manor, a 16th-century home featured in The Crown on Netflix and Mr Holmes.
Under Vine: 40 Acres
Grape Varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignac
